Septarian resonates most deeply with the lower chakras. Around 50 million years ago, liquid and mineral matter found its way into various fissures inside the earth’s rocks and soil. These “slurries” were usually a combination of limestone, yellow calcite, and aragonite. Some types of septarian stones even include volcanic ash. It just depends on where they were formed.
The special blend of materials is what makes septarian so recognizable. These stones have a distinct tri-color effect through the brown, white, and gray lines mixed with yellow. Eventually, the combination of minerals hardened into “concretions,” which have become the unique stones that we now know as “septarian.” You can even find hollow septarian geodes!
Another popular name for septarian crystals is “dragon stone.” This is especially common when a septarian has been carved and carefully polished into the shape of an egg. And no matter the shape or size, septarian stones have strong connections with ancient healing practices.
While it’s primarily a grounding stone, septarian is also recognized as a dispeller crystal. The strong earth energy can lend you strength. Septarian and dragon stone are ideal choices whenever you need both stabilizing energies and confidence. The solar plexus, sacral, and root chakras are all uniquely activated by septarian. Yet, as a dispeller crystal, the septarian also offers leaders or public speakers with the right balance for facing challenges. Ultimately this is a stone for reconnecting with your inner-healer and protector.
Of course, you can also turn to septarian for purely aesthetic reasons. The variety of patterns found in septarian sculptures offer a lot of potentials. It’s a great design element when you want to create a “down to earth” feel within your space.
